Objective: Serving 19,500 students throughout five counties in Mississippi, Hinds Community College recognized a need to increase efficiencies in its District Office of Admissions and Records’ processes, improve student services, and better utilize the Office’s physical space. The College contacted AACRAO Consulting for help in achieving these goals, considered key to reaching its enrollment targets.
Challenge: The District Office of Admissions and Records at HCC was open to changing and improving practices, but were looking for actionable solutions to enact this change. The Office needed a better understanding of available options and best practices successfully adopted by other schools with similar challenges. AACRAO Consulting brought this understanding.
Solution: Hinds’ AACRAO Consultant took an objective approach to assessing the College’s challenges, and to recommending solutions that best fit the needs of the department. We met with all levels of the Office staff, from the decision makers to the staff working in the trenches who interacted with students on a daily basis. Leveraging our knowledge and experience in the field, we introduced best practices, as well as how best to implement them.
Results: Rather than adding resources and costs, AACRAO Consulting showed Hinds’ Office of Admissions and Records how to maximize the resources they already had in place. Through more effective use of its human resources, technology resources, and improved processes, the Office is now able to handle the volume of student requests and staff responsibilities more efficiently.
