Bontrager headshot cropped gimpBob Bontrager served as the Senior Director of AACRAO Consulting and SEM Initiatives, which he was instrumental in establishing and building since its inception in 2007. AACRAO Consulting began as a response to AACRAO members’ requests for assistance, and since its founding, it has successfully served over 300 colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad, due largely to Dr. Bontrager’s leadership and guidance.

Bob had over 30 years of experience in higher education and was a leader in Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) as an author, and leader of the AACRAO SEM conference for many years. He also had an extensive career at Arizona State, Eastern Mennonite and Oregon State Universities. Bob was an alumnus of Goshen College and served on their Board of Trustees. Goshen College has established the Bontrager Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of Bob. Bob was devoted to service within and outside the higher education field. He was a mentor to many and a tireless advocate for student success. His life was filled with service to humanity. Among his contributions was relief work after Super Storm Sandy and Hurricane Katrina, as well as work with Habitat for Humanity.

Bob passed away on October 17th and leaves behind his wife, Beth, and three adult children. We at AACRAO Consulting miss his leadership, dedication to higher education, and humor.
