Sam Conte has 42 years of experience in a variety of operational areas in higher education, including over 24 years as University Registrar at the University of Pittsburgh. He has completed operational reviews of internal units at the University, as well as external reviews at a number of U.S. institutions (large and small; public and private) in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, as well as the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Conte has participated in numerous projects involving the use of process mapping, benchmarking, staff development, organizational design, and strategic planning. He was the implementation team leader for Pitt’s implementation of the PeopleSoft student administration system, including two system upgrades, as well as leading the implementation of classroom scheduling software (Schedule25 and Resource25). As Associate V.P. for Enrollment Services at Florida International University, Dr. Conte oversaw Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office, and Community College Relations.
He has served on, or chaired, various committees at the regional and national level, and has served as president of his regional association (Middle States Association of Collegiate Registrars and Officers of Admission). He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
