Q. How is the cost of a project determined?

We do not have a set fee schedule for projects, especially since client needs and scope of the effort differ from situation to situation. In general, client fees are based on a firm estimate of the total hours required to perform the client’s project. These hours are then multiplied by standard hourly billing rates for consultant and/or staff support. Fees for survey work as part of the project will be added to this total; however, they will be based on questionnaire and sample size rather than on an hourly basis. Since these are firm estimates, we will not exceed the amounts without prior client approval. Finally, an estimate of any out-of-pocket expenses to be incurred (such as for travel, telephone, courier, postage, etc.) will be added to the professional fees and services.

Q. How can we be assured of the quality of the work?

Above all, AACRAO will not accept projects for which it does not feel it has sufficient expertise to produce excellent results. Once a project is accepted, consultants with proven track records in the area(s) in question will be selected to work on it. Only the most qualified personnel will be part of our consulting team. The entire project process–from planning of work tasks to data gathering to reporting of conclusions and recommendations–is carefully monitored by the AC Director.

In contrast to most outside consultants, AACRAO consultants have a comprehensive understanding of higher education. They know that each college or university is unique and intricate. And AACRAO’s work is independent–of corporations, government, and individual institutions.
