How AACRAO’s supporting CCA’s Purpose First initiative

College access is critical, but what happens once students get on campus? Complete College America (CCA) has begun to shine a light on the complementary importance of student success, retention and completion through their work on “Game Changers” such as Guided Pathways to Success (GPS). With the support of a grant from Strada Education Network, CCA has established the Purpose First: Informed Choice of Major project, as a component of GPS, to help institutions explore how students can be assisted in making informed, meaningful choices about their area of study. How to comply with NSLDS enrollment reporting requirements

In late March, AACRAO and representatives from other organizations met with Federal Student Aid staff at the Education Department to discuss the nearly 1,000 institutions who are out of compliance in their NSLDS enrollment reporting. Specifically, these schools are failing to reach the 90 percent mark in terms of the percentage of students on their NSLDS SSCR rosters with valid program codes.

Maintaining student records

One of the primary responsibilities of the “records officer” is to properly maintain student records.  While that may sound a bit trite, there is actually much more to consider than just transcript data.  First of all, for most of us, there is the question: When do the records move from admissions to the registrar’s office? While there are a multitude of ways to accomplish this, it’s important to identify who is responsible for the data being complete and for correcting any errors.
